Research Interests

My work in hydrogeophysics focuses on the development of new ways to understand and quantify hydrologic complexity in the environment.  From investigating macropore flow and transport processes using medical CT scans to sensing saltwater intrusion across multiple aquifers located hundreds of feet underground, we need new strategies that can help us to manage water as an increasingly precious resource.  The majority of my groups works with electrical methods (e.g., resistivity tomography, induced polarization, EM induction, and ground-penetrating radar).  I also work in the area of geoscience education to investigate how we can use emerging technologies, such as mobile devices and virtual reality, to prepare the next generation of geoscience researchers.
